  • Know, how to select equipment and apply procedures that make hotels safe, healthy, and intelligent.

Did you say five star?

Although the hotel industry is now endowed with an ever greater number of tools for administrative management, technical management remains the poor relation in the hotel equipment family. The result is that customers who pay more than US$ 200.— for their night's stay rarely find the physiological comfort they desire. They are dissatisfied and do not come back.

As for the hotel manager, energy wastage forces him to watch considerable sums disappear down the drain every year, while rapidly growing operating costs put a further strain on his budget. The origin of this serious problem? Those responsible for hotels clearly lack the information they need. The solution? An analysis based on the real needs of the hotel, accompanied by modern, tested solutions.

Of all buildings, the hotel is certainly the greatest energy consumer. It is also one of the most complex types of building, since it must at the same time satisfy the desires and needs of customers and those of the hotel director. Comfort, security, communication, leisure, operating cost savings, all call for different technologies. Harmonious management of all these technologies, cost reduction accompanied by maximum profitability in an ever-changing market: these are the main concerns of modern hotel directors and their personnel.

Integrated technical management of individual rooms and of the entire hotel, together with the vital topic of air quality, will in future be part of the body of knowledge which modern hoteliers must without fail master.

Your "Technical Hotel Management" is still the best text ever written on that subject.

"The book, Technical Hotel Management, by Jacques Levy, presents a history of the hotel industry and proceeds to explore the various roles of the manager and guest and examines the technical needs of hotels -- and the basis for selecting a system to meet them.  The book also explores the evolution of building management in the past 30 years and investigates energy costs and ways of reducing energy expenses. Technical Hotel Management is a helpful resource to understand the technical aspects and the background of the hotel industry from historical to modern times."
